Allyship for Survivors recording

$22.00

An overview of cognitive distortions and self-sabotaging behaviors survivors encounter in activism + an introduction to trauma-informed practices for sustainable social justice work.

NOT another doom-Zoom of glowing screens draining your eyes, sitting in silence as your qi (lifeforce energy) stagnates, based on the Cartesian separation between body/soul/spirit/heart/mind. Participants are invited to set up their tech outside if possible, to wear pajamas or flowing comfy "unprofessional" attire, to snack on delicious food, to stand up + stretch + wiggle + twerk + shake + cry + listen to the body's desires. We breathe together, dance, and have a set space to wail/weep/release. I invite you to show up in all your human glory: with all of your feelings, all your vulnerability, all your needs, all your growing edges, all your mistakes, all your fears, all your coping mechanisms, all your magic, and all your power. In your wholeness. It is from the raw, real, perfectly imperfect majesty of your authenticity that you bless us all.

White supremacy, settler colonialism, ableism, heterosexism, transmisogyny, misogynoir*, patriarchy, orientalism, cis-supremacy, and all other structures of dehumanization are traumatizing on a cellular level. We carry ancestral resilience in addition to epigentic burdens, which we can reawaken in service of liberation. By breaking intergenerational patterns of trauma responses, we heal our lineages past, present and future.

* The hatred of Black women, term coined by Dr. Moya Bailey and Trudy of Gradient Lair
