Learn medical consent + Spanish to equitably support communities targeted by ICE raids. Trauma-informed care saves lives.

with Natalie Nava Nahüel Vie (she/her/they/them)
Public workshop for members of the Winter 2025 Dandelion Healers Cohort

In the face of state-sponsored violence, ICE raids, and the deliberate targeting of Indigenous and Latine communities by powerful institutions, equitable healthcare is more urgent than ever. For Spanish-speaking community members enduring the physical, emotional, and psychological toll of systemic oppression, access to trauma-informed, culturally competent care can be life-saving.

This training is for healers, healthcare workers, and practitioners—acupuncturists, nurses, EMTs, reiki practitioners, street medics, and peer support workers—who are ready to deepen their skills in medical consent and medical Spanish. These tools are essential for providing equitable, respectful care to those most impacted by structural violence.

Join Natalie Nava Nahüel Vie (she/her/they/them), a Chinese Medicine practitioner, traditional curandera, and World Cup Champion fencer, for this vital workshop. Drawing from their Mexica lineage, training in acupuncture and herbology, and experience as a healer and athlete, Natalie will guide participants in creating care practices that honor the dignity, autonomy, and resilience of those they serve.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Medical Consent: How to practice trauma-informed, culturally competent consent in healthcare settings, ensuring patients feel safe, respected, and empowered.

  • Medical Spanish: Essential Spanish phrases and terminology for healthcare contexts, enabling you to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients.

  • Healing Justice Framework: How to integrate these skills into your work, centering the needs of communities targeted by ICE raids, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma.

Why This Matters:

Powerful institutions are deliberately inflicting violence through ICE raids, which are not just political—they are psychological terrorism with devastating impacts on physical, emotional, and mental health. The administration is leveraging federal resources to systematically create Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) that impact children for their entire lives.

ICE specifically targets Indigenous and Latinx communities, while immigrants from European countries face far less scrutiny.

As healers and healthcare workers, we have a responsibility to provide care that is not only effective but also equitable, compassionate, and trauma-informed.

This Training Is For You If:

  • You’re a healer, healthcare worker, or practitioner committed to equitable, trauma-informed care.

  • You want to deepen your ability to support Spanish-speaking patients and community members.

  • You believe in the power of Healing Justice to resist systemic violence and create a more just world.

About the Facilitator:

Natalie Nava Nahüel Vie (she/her/they/them) is a warrior returned to the land, a practitioner of Chinese Medicine, and a member of the Mexica lineage of healers known as “Curanderos de Pies Descalsos.” A World Cup Champion fencer, artist, and yoga teacher, Natalie brings a unique blend of traditional healing, athletic discipline, and creative expression to their work. They live on a converted school bus, traveling between Topanga Canyon and Sedona, where they run a wild herbs apothecary and recording studio on wheels.

Why This Is an Amazing Deal:

You’ll gain essential skills that can transform how you provide care to Spanish-speaking patients and community members. In a time of crisis, these tools are not just helpful—they are imperative. By supporting the facilitation team, you resource practitioners who are actively engaged in Healing Justice work supporting frontline communities.

  • Use the printable handouts in clinic.
